Catalina Show a
Success!
Brian was one of 12 artists selected for a very
exclusive show & sale of paintings on Catalina
Island, this past June 5 at the Country Club.
The show was put on by the Society for the
Advancement of Plein Air Painting, the same
group that hosted the highly successful Casino
Shows a few years back that featured The Plein
Air Painters of America. That show became the
“model” for all the wet painting plein air shows
in the country.
Painters at this event showed paintings from
both the Island and beyond. Some of the proceeds
went towards a Plein Air Gallery in the new
museum that will be built on the Island and
exhibit much of the great art that has been
produced through the years on the Island. Shown
above is “Humble & Homey” one of eight pieces
Brian sold.

Workshop Magazine Feature Article
Brian's workshop from Barbados this past
February was used as basis for a 9 page article
featuring his methods and approach for painting
outdoors. Published by American Artist, the
summer edition of Workshop features his 4 step
approach which he builds his workshops around.
Check it out at your local newsstand or it can
be ordered on the internet through Interweave
Publishing.

Marine
Museum Show
Brian has two paintings in the American Society
of Marine Artists show, “Between the Shining
Seas”. The show will takes place at two museum
venues, starting first on June 26th at the
Wisconsin Maritime Museum in Manitowoc, WI and
then moving to the Minnesota Maritime Museum in
Winona, MN on September 7, 2010. Shown above is
one of his pieces “The Locks at Alma” 24 x 36”,
oil on canvas, and the other painting is “Home
on the Mississippi” shown on the plein air page
of this website.

Coos
Art Museum Show
Brian's painting the “Gill Netter” which
features a uniquely Great Lakes boat was
accepted into the 17th Annual Maritime
Exhibition at the Coos Art Museum in Coos Bay,
OR. Although only occasionally a marine painter,
Brian loves boats and their surrounding
environments and they are often a subject of his
plein air work.

Judge
for Raymar Art Contest
Raymar, maker of great art canvas panels for
studio and plein air painting and other related
art equipment sponsors a monthly art contest.
Because of the generous prize money, it draws
really quality artists and lots of them. Brian
was both humbled and honored to be the judge
this past May. Take a look at what he chose at
www.raymarartcontest.com and if you're a
artist consider entering it.
Paint Me Barbados
Brian recently
taught a workshop on the beautiful Caribbean Island
of Barbados. Part of an event themed: Paint Me
Barbados, there were workshops and presentations in
watercolor, jewelry making, animation, caricature
and more. Brian’s was the only plein air workshop.
Comprised mostly of Bajans with a few Americans, it
had a nice international flavor with top instructors
from the U.S., Canada and Europe. The Barbadians are
hard workers and a fun loving culture with a “No
Problem Mon” attitude. They love to party and host
people from around the world, which they do with
their unique fusion food and great music. Above are
a few photos of the event.

Plein Air Magazine Article
A
special edition of American Artist devoted to plein
air painting recently came out. It’s loaded with
great articles, demos, equipment tips, history etc.
It features many of the top painters painting today.
Brian is flattered to be included. On page 120-121
is a brief article and reproductions of a painting
of his “The Trailer Park” which is shown on the
large paintings page of Brian’s website.
